Skill & Job Requirements: Shell scripting(L1)-[Maintenance of Shell scripts -Maintenance and enhancements of shell scripts.Debugging and trouble shooting the shell scripts - Ability to develop scripts interfacing with databases. Ability to handle large scripts that in-turn use multiple executables and external scripts, Error logging .[Debugging] Enabling debugging - Syntax Checking Shell Tracing -Using echo ,Using Standard Error , Options for Debugging, Script Tracing ,Conditional Debugging Database Monitoring(L2)-Connectivity Issues; Issues like not able to connect to remote serversCreating and maintaining DB Statistics. Space Management; Disk Space, DB space, shrink Backup & Recovery. Database Backup and Recovery(L1)-Basic Understanding of Backup and Recovery Methods, ? Point in time db recovery using Roll forward database. ? Archiving and retrieving logs and backup images from TSM and VERITAS.? Scheduling DB2 Partition Level Backup (RMAN / Native Tools) Platform Administration for DB(L1)-Should have basic understanding in Unix / Linux Platforms like Solaris,HP UX, AIX and Red Hat Linux, Windows Administration.Find Installed software in HP-UX,linuxFind swap space in all UNIX flavors get Kernel parameter maintenanceget system activity report get IO Activity get CPU consuming process DB2 UDB Admin(L2)-Understand New Features in 9.x. Generate Explain Plan, Interpreting explainplan output Interpret diaglog Create, Rename a database Partition Tables andIndexes Move databases between servers, plan and size databases. Re-org ofDatabase. Refresh Database using Offline Backup, Online Backup & Export/import.Maintain Standby database. Troubleshoot CPU Load and resolve it. GenerateStatistics for the tables, Partitioned tables, Subpartitioned Tables & troubleshoot issues related to Statistics. Troubleshoot issues like Databasehanging, issues with undo tablespaces, segments. Be able to Tune SQL PerformOnline backup, Offline Backup. Export, Import Recover under Various Scenarious(like recovery a corrupted database when the db runs in archive log mode,Recovery a tables data when a user accidently drops it, etc).
