Job Description :
The Red Hat Global Learning Services (GLS) team is looking for an experienced Technical Editor to join us in Bangalore, India. In this role, you will support the development of Red Hat Training courses. You'll play an important part in maintaining the editorial quality and integrity of our content. You must have a passion for both technology and the English language. You will work closely with our Content Services and Content Development teams, editing customer-facing course training and assessment material.
Primary job responsibilities :
Edit customer-facing course materials for format, content, technical accuracy, style, grammar, and punctuation
Edit multiple course book chapters, assessments, and related content at various stages of development
Edit content written by, and intended for, a highly technical audience
Manage tasks, evaluate task priorities, and demonstrate flexibility when priorities shift
Champion content quality and take ownership for editorial review of customer-facing course materials
At every stage of the development process, exercise good judgment in assessing the level of edit that a piece of documentation requires
Follow internal style guidelines and apply XML DocBook tagging standards to course-facing materials, maintaining a consistent look and feel for documents across multiple offerings
Update internal style guides for content and content tagging, and participate in discussions and decision-making regarding these standards
Accept ownership for and participate in special projects as needed
Support and work closely with a tightly knit and collaborative team
Required skills :
Fluency in spoken and written English
Experience editing for a software or technology services company
Ability to work effectively with different cultures and geographies across multiple time zones
Ability to deliver difficult messages tactfully to content authors with varying degrees of receptiveness, to achieve the best user outcomes
Proficiency at reviewing, tagging, and commenting within DocBook, AsciiDoc, or DITA
Ability to identify and offer improvement to workflow, efficiency, and quality of technical content development and editing
Ability to learn quickly and flexibility to move easily from document to document, project to project, and priority to priority
Experience with minimalism and structured writing
Willingness to join occasional calls outside of traditional 8 to 5 pm local hours
Comfortable working on your own and with a globally distributed team
Passionate about student learning experiences and outcomes
Willingness to learn new tools, applications, programs, and technologies as required by the role and the business
